Nominations for the 73rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards
The Television Academy has just announced the nominations for the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards, with "The Crown" and "The Mandalorian" leading the way with 24 nominations each. They were closely followed by "WandaVision" with 23.
Several shows earned a multitude of acting nominations, with many outright dominating some categories: "The Crown" (7), "The Handmaid's Tale" (8), "Ted Lasso" (6), and "Saturday Night Live" (5).
It may not have been a particularly big surprise, but it was very pleasant to find that the Television Academy responded really well to Marvel's first television outing, "WandaVision," and continued to show a strong love for the "Star Wars" spinoff "The Mandalorian."
As far as who the big winners will be, my money would be on "The Crown" and "Ted Lasso" as the easy winners this time around, with "Mare of Easttown" and "The Queen's Gambit" duking it out for Limited Series, but we'll just have to wait until the ceremony on September 19th to find out.
