DC, Los Angeles, and Boston Film Critics Announce Their Picks for Best of 2024
Today was Super Sunday for critics awards, with DC, Los Angeles, and Boston announcing their picks for the best in film for 2024. The Washington D.C. Area Film Critics Association, a group of which I'm a proud voting member, has selected Jon M. Chu's outstanding musical "Wicked" as Best Feature, while also giving the film Best Production Design. The rest of the awards were pretty spread out with several films winning a pair of awards: "The Brutalist" (Best Director and Best Original Score), "Anora" (Best Actress and Best Editing), Conclave (Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Acting Ensemble), "A Real Pain" (Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor), and "The Wild Robot" (Best Animated Feature and Best Voice Performance).
Both the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and the Boston Society of Film Critics have selected "Anora" as the best film of 2024, with the former also giving it one of their Best Leading Performance awards and the latter also giving it Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Original Screenplay.
