Netflix Debuts First Teaser for Season Two of The Crown
Last November, Netflix debuted the original series "The Crown," which took a look at the early years of Queen Elizabeth II's reign, to widespread critical acclaim. Lauded for its fantastic writing by Oscar-nominee Peter Morgan and phenomenal ensemble, which includes Claire Foy, John Lithgow, and Matt Smith, the show was showered with prizes such as Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and SAG awards, and recently earned an incredible 13 Emmy nominations that include Outstanding Drama Series, Writing (Drama), Directing (Drama), and three for acting.
Today, Netflix debuted the first teaser for the hit show's second season, which supposedly covers from 1957-1964. The teaser gives us a good look at the returning cast and a small hint of the difficulties that continued to surround the early year's of Elizabeth II's reign. There's still a bit of a wait left until the series finally returns, but if it's as good as the first season was, then it's definitely going to be worth the wait. In the meantime, like many others, I'll be cheering it on at the Emmy's next month, where it should easily take "the crown" (pardon the pun) for Best Drama, but you never really know with the Television Academy, so we'll just have to wait and see.
"The Crown" returns for its second season on December 8th (all episodes will be released at once via Netflix).
