The Winners of the 22nd Annual Critics' Choice Awards for Film

Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling in "La La Land"

The Broadcast Film Critics Association has just finished presenting the 22nd Annual Critics' Choice Awards, with the results being pretty much as expected. Damien Chazelle's magnificent musical "La La Land" dominated the evening with eight wins that included Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Editing.

Looking at the rest of the winners, there really aren't any big surprises to be found. The wins for Casey Affleck, Mahershala Ali, and Viola Davis seem to cement their places as the frontrunners of their respective categories, while the win for Natalie Portman shakes up the Best Actress race a little more.

It should be noted that the Broadcast Film Critics did not have the opportunity to see Martin Scorsese's "Silence" before they voted due to their award shifting to a much earlier date, so it will be interesting to see if the critically-acclaimed film manages to shake things up as we get to the groups that actually got to see it.

Coming up tomorrow morning are the Golden Globe nominations, where we'll get to see what silly "comedy" nominees the Hollywood Foreign Press comes up with this year to accompany "La La Land" in the Best Picture (Comedy/Musical) category. Whereas we can probably expect "Arrival," "Manchester by the Sea," "Moonlight," "Silence," and either "Hell or High Water," "Hacksaw Ridge," or even "Sully" in the Best Picture (Drama) category. Check back in tomorrow morning to see who makes the cut!
