Independence Day: Resurgence Comes to Digital HD September 27th and Blu-ray/DVD October 18th
It's been a long 20 years since the explosively entertaining "Independence Day" hit theaters back in 1996, and even though there wasn't a whole lot of demand for a sequel, that's exactly what we got this year in the form of "Independence Day: Resurgence." The response from both critics and audiences was not exactly enthusiastic, with the film earning some pretty miserable ratings from both groups, but I suppose that's the kind of thing that happens when you make a rather unnecessary sequel two decades after the original was a smash hit.
Today, 20th Century Fox has announced the home release of the film, declaring that it will be coming to Digital HD on September 27th and Blu-ray/DVD October 18th.
The following special features will be included:
Eight Deleted Scenes with Audio Commentary by Roland Emmerich
The War of 1996
It’s Early, ABQ!
Another Day: The Making of Independence Day: Resurgence (available as Digital HD Extra on DVD only)
Gag Reel
Audio Commentary by Roland Emmerich
Concept Art
Theatrical Trailers and TV Spot
At least it looks as though some of the extras should be interesting, including a commentary from director/co-writer Roland Emmerich, deleted scenes, and a "Making of" featurette. If nothing else, it's usually interesting to see how big budget spectacles like this are made, especially if it goes into a lot of depth.
Those dates again are September 27th for Digital HD and October 18th for Blu-ray/DVD, so if you were one of the film's few fans, then be sure to take note.
