Resident Evil: The Final Chapter Receives Its First Action-Packed Trailer
Admittedly, I somewhat enjoyed the first film in the "Resident Evil" series. It's not a great film by any means, but I've always found it to be decently entertaining as we follow the small group of characters through the zombie-infested Hive. It's after this that the series took a very hard fall, one that it's never been able to recover from throughout the course of four additional films. Now, of course, we are presented with the sixth entry in the franchise, one that purports to be the final film in the seemingly never-ending series.
Today, we have the first trailer for the upcoming film, and after watching it, it honestly looks like it could be a fun little action flick at the very least. I learned long ago not to expect anything more from these films, but if they're going to take it back to where it all began, then there's perhaps a chance that they could recapture some of the fun from the original film.
For those wondering what the final film will deal with, take a look at Screen Gem's official synopsis:
Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, humanity is on its last legs in Washington D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity's final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began - Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse. In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between regaining her superhuman abilities at Wesker's hand and Umbrella's impending attack, this will be Alice's most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.
Going back to Raccoon City? Fighting undead hordes and mutant monsters? Sounds like your typical "Resident Evil" material, and that's exactly what we get plenty of glimpses of in the trailer. Again, I'm not going to hold my breath in hopes that this turns out better than the last few films, but, like everyone else, I do hope that it will go out with a solid bang.
