See What the Critics Are Saying in This New Suicide Squad TV Spot

It's been a little disconcerting lately that David Ayer's "Suicide Squad" is opening very soon, and yet, there has yet to be a single review for the film put up on Rotten Tomatoes. This should be changing very soon, but Warner Bros. has decided to jump the gun and release a TV spot (with a little new footage) featuring the first critical reactions, which, as you would expect for such an ad, would seem to indicate that many are liking the flick.

Of course, this is to be fully expected (you could hardly expect them to say anything bad in the ad), but I'm still a little concerned though, as the spot doesn't contain quotes from any important outlets (like Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, The New York Times, or The Washington Post, to name just a few). In fact, several of the quotes are from Shawn Edwards of Fox-TV, who always seems to fashion quotes to be used in ads like this, so the fact that he's used so many times in this one short ad isn't exactly encouraging. Hopefully I'm getting concerned for nothing and the eventual onslaught of reviews will be highly positive, but if they don't pop up soon, then there may indeed be cause to worry. Even "Batman v Superman" had reviews pop up the Tuesday before its release, and we all know how that turned out. Let's just hope that the embargo lifts sooner rather than later, so that we can see if the long wait has been worth it.

"Suicide Squad" finally comes to theaters this Friday, August 5th, and as a reminder, my review for the film will go up Thursday morning, so be sure to check back then.
