First Trailer for Wonder Woman Debuts at Comic-Con

One of the many issues that had plagued "Batman v Superman" was the inclusion of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman as a secondary character who seemed like she had just been thrown in to set up her spot in the upcoming "Justice League" film. This left her character rather poorly developed, but that's all going to change when her very own movie gets released next year.

In another of several promotional releases at Comic-Con today, Warner Bros. has dropped the first trailer for "Wonder Woman," featuring Gal Gadot as the titular superhero and Chris Pine (of "Star Trek" fame) as Steve Trevor. The trailer promises an action-packed film (as we usual get with any superhero film), so fans should be rather pleased. It certainly looks like it'll be a fun film, so I (along with millions of others) will look forward to it and the plethora of additional DC comics films we'll be receiving in the next few years.

However, there is still the question of whether it will be able to break DC Comics' current streak of disappointing films. With both "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," they've clearly had trouble getting things right when it comes to superhero films, and it would be a terrible shame if that were to continue on into yet another adaptation that so many fans have been looking forward to. One of the main problems has been the suffocating action crammed into their projects, and while the trailer certainly makes it looks like there's going to be plenty of it here to, I'm not ready to get concerned quite yet, for the story surrounding the character looks like it could be enough to rise above it.

Will this be the one to succeed where others have failed? We'll find out when Patty Jenkins' "Wonder Woman" arrives in theaters on June 2, 2017.
